Before the visit Emma will confirm plans for the day. It is helpful for her to have access to a computer and projector. Although she will bring most materials for the workshops she hopes to be able to rely on the pens, scissors and glue that are usually already in classrooms. If she is staying for the whole day it would be great if lunch could be provided and she is happy to eat with the children. Access to a staff room would be appreciated for brief breaks between sessions.
Emma is happy to sign books that children have pre-ordered. If the money for the books can be sent to school with the children before the day of the visit it helps the day run more smoothly.
An author visit generates lots of excitement and the children may like to prepare for the visit by familiarising themselves with the books, the minibeasts and nature theme or an art project. It is wonderful to see what children have achieved when the visit takes place.
